About Sano Park

Owners Donna and Troy Hancock were bitten by the horse racing bug in 2004 when they purchased their first thoroughbred.  Not too long afterward, they were lucky enough to find themselves in the winner's circle for the first time.  In 2005, Donna and Troy purchased Sano Park Training Center from trainer Vince White, who started the training center in 2000.  Donna and Troy, both local business owners in Adair County, jumped at the chance to combine their business expertise with their love of thoroughbreds.  Donna owns one of the largest privately held independent publishing and printing operations in the state and Troy owns one of the largest tire dealerships in South Central Kentucky.  As former clients who know the importance of individual horse needs, Sano Park strives to treat each horse as if it were their own.  They provide their clients with honest and updated information on the status of their horse.  The center has attracted clients from all over Kentucky, as well as from Nevada, Florida, North Carolina, Missouri and Ohio.  Sano Park provides references for anyone interested in utilizing their facility.

The training center is situated on 150 acres of gently rolling hills in south-central Kentucky.  Many major improvements have been made with many more planned for the future.  The center presently has 36 stalls in two barns for horses in training along with several large paddocks.  The center has a covered Eurociser for exercising horses and a three quarter mile training track complete with it's own starting gate.

Sano has two full-time trainers - original trainer Vince White and Timmy Burton, who recently moved back to his hometown after nine years in the Pennsylvania horse industry. Both trainers live on site offering around the clock care for the horses 365 days a year.  All horses at the facility receive the best in veterinary care from Dr. David Lafever, who owns his own broodmare farm and breeding facility, raises thoroughbreds to race and sell, and is a client of Sano Park.  Dr. Lafever is available 24-7 for the training center.

Horses in training at Sano Park race at all four Kentucky tracks - Churchill Downs, Keeneland, Turfway and Ellis Park - plus River Downs in Ohio and Indiana Downs.  The horses "race off the farm", being kept in the peaceful country atmosphere of the training center then shipped to the track the day of the race instead of being stabled in the crowded noisy confines of the track.  Sano Park handles and trains horses of all ages.  The center boards colts until they are ready for training, breaks and trains young horses and transports horses to the track to race.  The center also is very experienced in working with older horses.

The Hancocks and their employees strive to provide the best care and best training possible for the horses to ensure they reach their maximum potential on the race track.  They strive to treat their clients in the personal and professional manner they deserve.
